Business Central Onboarding Guide

This guide helps you set up Equity in Business Central.

Prerequisites

  • Access to Business Central (as an administrator).

  • Access to Azure Portal with permissions to create App Registrations.

  • Information about your Business Central environment (environment name + ID).


Start Onboarding from Business Central

  1. Log in to Business Central.

  2. Find the “Equity” extension.

  3. Click on Start Onboarding.


Create App Registration in Azure Entra

  1. Go to Azure Portal.

  2. Select Azure Active Directory → App registrations → + New registration.

  3. Fill out:
    Name: “Equity”
    Supported account types: Single tenant
    Redirect URI: https://businesscentral.dynamics.com/OAuthLanding.htm

  4. Click Register.


Create Client Secret

  1. Go to Certificates & secrets.

  2. Click + New client secret.

  3. Provide a name, e.g., equity

  4. Select expiration time (24 months or longer).

  5. Copy Value and store it securely (you will only see it once!).


Add API permissions

  1. Go to API permissions → + Add a permission.

  2. Select Dynamics 365 Business Central → Application permissions.

  3. Check:
    app_access
    API.ReadWrite.All

  4. Click Add permissions.

  5. Click Grant admin consent.


Registration in Business Central

The app must now be registered in Business Central with the correct permissions.

  1. Log in to Business Central and click Search (the magnifying glass).

  2. Search for Microsoft Entra Applications.


  1. Click New to add a new application.
    Fill in the following fields:

  • Client ID: Enter the same App ID that was registered in Entra.

  • Description: Equity

  • Extension App ID: 0a00ae2b-ba86-4e65-8769-1f9bc38dd25b

  • Extension Name: Equity

  1. Select State: Enabled, and allow the creation of a user.

  2. Click Add Permission Set, find D365 BUS FULL ACCESS, and assign it to the company you are currently onboarding.

  3. Click Grant Consent, sign in, and approve the permissions in the wizard.


Send information to Equity

Once the above is set up, send the following information to Equity via our onboarding form:

  • Application (Client) ID

  • Client Secret

  • Entra Tenant ID

  • Business Central environment name
